We’ve all seen the 6–7 meme, but this week we’ve got our very own version: 7–5.

Remarkably, five of the eight matches finished 7–5, with every Division 1 fixture going the way of the home side and all 7-5. Plenty of tight encounters, a few real shocks, and results that have blown the leagues wide open - especially the Division 2 title race.

🏆 Division 1 Highlights

SS&NR 7 - 5 NRS

SS&NR claimed their second league win of the season with a solid 7–5 home victory over NRS, after the match was finely poised at 5–5 after ten frames.

SS&NR made the stronger start, racing into a 4–1 lead, with Jason Willerby the only NRS player on the scoresheet early on as he overcame Joe Byrne.

NRS then mounted a strong comeback in the second half, taking the first four frames to level the match. However, Paul Fisher edged the 'battle of the Pauls' by defeating Paul Cutler before SS&NR Captain Wayne Timbrell sealed the win, dispatching debutant and Jason’s son - Freddy Willerby.

A valuable win for SS&NR that boosts their fight for safety, though with only a few weeks remaining, it remains a tough challenge.

Staines Cons D 7 - 5 Shepperton Sports

After last week’s excellent draw against the Three Tuns, Shepperton Sports went into this fixture full of confidence. However, despite the match being level after ten frames, they were unable to hold on for a draw or snatch a win, eventually slipping to defeat and falling 15 points adrift in the battle to avoid relegation.

The opening six frames were evenly shared, with wins for Shepperton Sports coming from Lito Estrella, Allyn Sutton and Gary Weltiner, while Staines Cons D replied through Daniel Elsey, Mark Harmes and Tony Sparrow.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with little to separate the sides until a superb reverse dish in frame nine from Marcus Cummings, who defeated Allyn Sutton in style. Terry Linacer then pulled one back for Shepperton to level the match, but wins from Daniel Elsey and Tony Sparrow sealed victory for Staines Cons D, keeping them firmly in fourth place.

Three Tuns 7 - 5 Egham & Hythe Whites

Three Tuns knew they couldn’t afford any further slips going into this one, with WR Sports A hot on their heels, and were also wary of the threat posed by Egham & Hythe Whites, who boast a strong lineup including Paul Morrison, Dan Emmett and young Freddie Morrison.

However, it was Three Tuns who came flying out of the traps, with Luke Emmett forgetting to chase the hare and allowing Martin Court to take advantage. That set the tone as the hosts surged into a 4–0 lead, before Paul Morrison eventually got Egham & Hythe Whites on the board with a win over Daz Wallace.

Egham & Hythe Whites trailed 5–1 after six frames and soon found themselves further adrift at 6–2 and then 7–3. They did manage to pull a couple back late on, with father-and-son duo Paul Morrison and Freddie Morrison both recording wins to earn some consolation points.

Three Tuns remain top of Division 1, now five points clear, with all eyes turning to Tuesday 5th May when they travel to face WR Sports A.

WR Sports A 7 - 5 Sunbury Con Club B

WR Sports A remain the league’s only unbeaten side but still sit five points off the top, largely due to dish points. They also made a slow start in this fixture, as Sunbury Con Club B came out strongly to take the first three frames. WR Sports A responded well, winning the next three to send the match into the second half evenly poised at 3–3.

Victories for Sunbury came from Min Kirby, Bobby Heard and Liam O’Keefe, while Ben Reading, Daniel James and Rob Malik got the wins for WR Sports A.

The second half was far more one‑sided and, unlike Ben and Rob’s football team, there was no bottling here. Ethan Coates led the charge as WR Sports A pulled clear, moving into a commanding 7–3 lead to secure the win. Liam O’Keefe continued his perfect night by beating Ben Reading, before Chris Armstrong saw off Ethan Coates to add a couple of late consolation points.

WR Sports A will still fancy their chances in the title race, with a huge match still to come in a few weeks’ time whilst hoping they turn up for that one, unlike Arsenal have of late.

Lost 🍼, if found, please return to Arsenal!

🏆 🏆 Division 2 Highlights

Eddies 9 - 3 WR All Stars

The shock result of the week and no disrespect to Eddies, who are a strong side, but with WR All Stars leading the charge at the top of the Division 2 table, few would have seen this coming.

Eddies made a flying start, with Hiss Salih producing a superb reverse dish to defeat Tom Parsons. The momentum continued as Jon Martin and Chris Atwell followed up to give Eddies an early 3–0 lead before WR All Stars managed to pull a couple back.

Eddies led 4–2 after the opening six frames and showed no signs of letting up. WR All Stars were never able to recover and could only add one more point, courtesy of Ryan Fastnedge who beat John Tallent in frame nine.

A convincing 9–3 win for Eddies keeps their slim promotion hopes alive, still 12 points off second but bigger miracles have happened —but the result has completely blown the Division 2 title race wide open and made the next few weeks more exciting.

Egham & Hythe Ladies 1 - 11 Jolly Butcher

Jolly Butcher went into this one unsure of what to expect against Egham & Hythe Ladies, but with eyes firmly set on securing their first league win of the season - which they did in some style.

While there were another 11 frames played on the night, the main talking point came in frame four between Maria Griffiths‑Pressman and Jason Anidjah. Last week, Jason benefitted from a rather unfortunate foul on the black against Max James (Egham & Hythe Youth), where the white dropped after the black was potted. In typical Jason Anidjah fashion, kind, caring, and always willing to share - he decided to return the favour this week by potting both the black and white, handing the win to Maria.

Such generosity deserves a mention - what a man and welcome to the 11 - 1 club!

Jokes aside, it finished a convincing 11–1 win for Jolly Butcher, although the match was closer than the scoreline suggests. Shout out to Leo Cooper, Amrik Mann, Hip Patel, Emma Cooper and Keith Rozario who all had perfect records and despite the result, the Ladies once again showed they know how to enjoy themselves, and it surely won’t be long before a result goes their way.

Egham & Hythe Youth 7 - 5 Staines Cons New

This was a match that would significantly boost one team’s promotion push while dealing a blow to the other as the season edges towards its conclusion. In the end, it was Egham & Hythe Youth who claimed the bragging rights and a crucial 2 bonus points, securing a hard‑fought 7–5 win over a steady Staines Cons New side to move up to second place.

Captained by Dexter Reilly, Egham & Hythe Youth opted to mix things up this week, cleverly utilising league rules to group players together. Mark Court, Dexter Reilly, Max James and Dan Reilly all played back‑to‑back, each taking advantage of the maximum number of frames permitted.

Early on, the tactic didn’t appear to be paying dividends, with the match finely balanced at 3–3 after six frames. However, late arrival Dan Reilly proved influential, winning two of his three frames to give his side momentum.

Steve Kent was the standout performer for Staines Cons New, defeating both father and son - Dexter Reilly in frame four and Dan Reilly in frame nine. His celebrations suggested Chelsea had just scored, although while celebrating his win over Dan, Brighton grabbed a third against the Blues, quickly dampening the mood.

Back to the pool table, with the score at 6–5, it took a composed and mature performance from the experienced old boy Mark Court, who overcame Perry Baker to seal the victory for Egham & Hythe Youth and lift them into second place.

Sunbury Con Club A 4 - 8 London Stone

Sunbury Con Club A came into this fixture on the back of four consecutive wins, firmly thrusting themselves into the promotion picture with every match now carrying extra importance. However, this was not their night. Missing Captain Russell Cooper, and up against a a motivated London Stone team, Sunbury saw their promotion push dealt a huge blow as London Stone secured an emphatic 8-4 victory.

London Stone made a blistering start, racing into a 5–1 lead after the opening six frames. Sunbury’s sole success in that spell came from debutant David Llewellyn, drafted in for the injured Russell Cooper.

Sunbury Con Club A did respond with wins from John Ward and Kevin Pallett to give themselves a glimmer of hope, but London Stone finished strongly. Victories from Chris Butler, Callum Godfrey and Nick McDonald sealed a convincing 8–4 win.

Sunbury Con Club A now find themselves four points off second place and five behind the leaders with just three games remaining - leaving everything still to play for.
